Four additional women say they were abused in the jail, and two men say a Haltom City police officer solicited them for sex.
This comes from a lawsuit that was filed by three unnamed women, Jane Does 1-3. The suit was broadened to include three more women who charged a guard with abuse.
Jane Doe No. 7 was released from the Haltom City Jail in May 2000. She went to the 7-Eleven to call her family. While she was waiting for her family, a man wearing a Haltom City police uniform in a private car asked her if she needed a ride. By the time she got in the car, she found out the uniformed officer didn’t want to just give her a ride, he wanted sex. By that time they were on a freeway and she could not jump out.
Jane Doe No. 7 stated, “He asked me to perform a sex act on him.” “I was mortified – I wanted to crawl into my skin.” When she refused he began a series of threats.
By then, they were near her home and a neighbor saw them and he finally dropped her off, with a warning, “To come back on me if I told anyone.”
Michael Pezzulli, an attorney who represents the women said, “There are a number of women in and out of the jail, and it appears that uniformed officers were involved in the attacks.”
A man, a partner in a gay couple, said a City of Haltom officer repeatedly approached him about sex. The officer repeatedly parked his marked patrol car outside his residence, and beeped his siren in short blasts to make him come out.
Both the man and his partner reported the incidents to the Haltom City Police Department, calling them at least twice, and nothing happened.
Jane Doe No. 7 complained to Haltom City police and a female investigator promised to call her back, but never did.
